One last Childhood Christmas

One last Childhood Christmas
By Betty Devenney

Still a child in that magical world of toys and Santa Clause,
but hardly a step away from awareness.
That all is not as you believed,
your heart hopes, the wonder and the magic is all real.
But growing up is touching fingers with reality.

You can sense something precious is slipping away forever,
yet somehow, somehow, a little spark of the wonder stays with you.
Always there to glow and light up your heart with joy.
Always there to let you still see the magic through the eyes of a child.

For in every heart, the child in us lives,
always sparkling, forever shining.
Keeping safe all the dreams and every hope
So you never forget.

Once upon a time you dwelled in a magical world
And lived the magic and the wonder
of one last childhood Christmas that will be forever in your heart.
