Easter flowers a Political Metaphor

Easter flowers a Political Metaphor

Easter flowers symbols of new growth, new life

And never the question is proffered how I

A politician, like nature

Can bring forth new life this Easter season?

What ‘resurrections’ in political speak

Will be forthcoming this Easter time?

Tales of histories repeat? No new life?

Let the Easter flowers wither?

Darkness dominating governments?

No hope for our future?

Easter Flowers don’t bloom in gloom.

In the certainty it is their time to flourish

From murky soil into light they travel

Hold fast against elements of fire

Permit their frozen hearts to dissipate

Crush earth’s intransigent grip on their seeds

Easter flowers blindly battle through winter‘s terror

Adapt, reach out, and grow round dark organisms

Like frozen hearted Politicians comply the tongues

That parrot, centuries of division –

Why rail against the status quo?

Why recognise compromise’s birth right?

Weighty words of slaughter daily spewed

Trampled underfoot saplings of future inklings

Impotent until mistrust is reined, chained, proven delusional

Like wagons circling a camp fire, they tread the same mire

Circling each other’s exhibition ground

Words of derision dripping from their mouths

Until cowboys and Indians become

Indistinguishable from one another

And never the question is proffered how will I a politician

Bring forth new growth this Easter season?

How can I stem the tsunami of poisonous utterings?

Focus on the resurrection of the Easter flowers.

What if,

It gave n to the poisonous organisms

Didn’t push forth from the frozen heart of earth?

Let seed wither, scatter to the four winds–

Gave up – gave in – what then?

Dark underbelly in charge of Easter flowering?

No spring – No resurrection

To chase black night from our minds

Long frozen wintertime

Death personified

The End…for humanity and the Easter flowers
