If the Oak is out before the Ash
Then you may expect a splash
If the Ash is out before the Oak
Then you may expect a soak
So many frosts in March
So many fogs in May
Ice in November will bear a duck,
February weather all mire and muck
Winter’s to come that year
A green Christmas – a full graveyard
Big snow- no snow
Wee snow – more snow
There’s no need to fear the wind if your haystacks
Are tied down
St Swithin’s Day if thou dost rain (15th July)
For 40 days it will remain
If St Swithin’s Day be dry and clear
You’ll have to summers that year
If the north wind blows on Michaelmas Day (29 September)The month of October is sunny and gay.
