The Strabane Station Ghost
Back in the day Strabane Railway Station was a busy, well connected place.
One dark October night, shortly after midnight three men were working in the engine room getting ready for an early start in the morning. A terrible racket of knocking and hammering, wailing and screeching started.
It seemed to be all over the building.
The men cautiously opened the door to be confronted by a huge man.
Hearing all the thumping and wailing another railway came running yielding a spanner used to tighten railway joints.
The spanner did nothing to deter the screaming wailing man.
For two hours the terrifying thumping and screeching continue before the figure of the huge man vanished.
The next night the same three men were in the same engine shed and the same happened again.
The huge man reappears reappeared.
This time things in the engine shed – tools and machinery were tossed about.
Too terrified to leave the man stayed inside.
One of the men, decided he would try and see if the thing was real but overcome with fear, he collapsed.
Later, the railwaymen learned there had been a murder where the engine shed was situated – long before the railway was there.
No other explanation was ever found.
